Moose's Diary: Every Tuesday At The Vet

Every Tuesday, Mam Brought Me To The Vet. So I Kept A Diary.
The car, the waiting room, the cold table, and the Tuesday that changed everything. Written by the dog.
By Moose, chocolate Lab, 35 kg · as told to the Waggle family · Oct 27, 2026
My name is Moose. I'm a chocolate Labrador from Dublin. Thirty-five kilos, most of it charm.
I love my mam. She walks me in the rain, which in Ireland is every walk. She takes seven vitamins every morning with her tea.
But for a long time, Tuesday meant one thing. The vet.
Tuesday, 9:40 a.m. · The car

What were we there for? Take your pick.
- The itch. Scratching so hard my tags woke the whole house.
- The ears. Red and warm. Again.
- The paws. Licked them at 2 a.m. until the fur went rusty.

Every visit ended the same way. Something to rub on, something to wash with, and "see you in a few weeks".
See what changed my Tuesdays →Then came the cone
We don't talk about the cone. I walked into the doorframe. Twice. The cat from the waiting room would have loved it.
Then the tablets in cheese
I'm a Lab, not an eejit. I ate the cheese, found the tablet and left it behind the sofa. Every. Single. One.

Then one Tuesday, the vet said something different
She checked my ears. She checked my paws. Then she sat back and said to Mam:
"He's a healthy dog. But you don't have to wait for the next visit. Support him every day, from the inside."
Mam went quiet. When a human goes quiet like that, you don't move.
Here's what she meant. The shampoo, the cream, the cone: all of it works on my outside. But about seventy percent of a dog's immune system lives in the gut. The itch was just where things were showing up.

And I'll be straight with you. This isn't medicine. If I'm properly sick, Mam still brings me to the vet, and she should. This is the everyday bit, before anything goes wrong.

Dot waggle. A small Irish family business from Dublin, and the chews were developed by a vet here in Dublin. They make one thing: a daily salmon chew for skin, coat and immune support.

Inside each chew:
- EpiCor Pets, a postbiotic studied for its support of a balanced immune response
- Colostrum for immune health and the gut lining
- Salmon oil and salmon meal, omega-3s for skin and a shiny coat
- A prebiotic (FOS) that feeds the good bacteria in the gut
- Nettle, linseed and algae for skin and coat
One salmon chew a day, given like a treat (one to three, depending on the size of your dog). Mam calls it a supplement. I call it breakfast. No tablets, no cheese, nothing behind the sofa.
